Here we have listed a few of our favourite places ,
although there is much more that we do not have space to list or have not
yet discovered ! In the villa you will find a folder with more
information on places and things to do for children etc. Please note all
times are by car unless otherwise stated. Begur - a wonderful medieval town , inland but with views over the sea , it is dominated by its 12C castle ruins. There are too many bars and restaurants to name ( plus chic nightclubs and boutiques if you desire ). Our favourite restaurants include; Fonda Caner, La Pizzeta, Mas Comangue, Aigua Clara . Apx 1.5km from house. Sa Tuna - a pretty cove (mainly stony beach), great for swimming, snorkelling, fishing and lovely coastal walks in both directions. 2 great restaurants open in season. Apx 1.2km from house, 20min walk along road or 15min along coastal path. Aigua Blava - one of the most famous beaches , a stunning sandy bay with restaurants in season. Apx 10mins by car. Tamariu - wonderful larger sandy bay, great swimming, snorkelling (diving board from rocks) and open all year with more facilities ,shops & restaurants. Our favourite restaurant here is Es Dofi ( open all year ). Llafranc / Calella / Palafrugell - lovely sandy bays and good restaurants by the beaches. The old town of Palafrugell is a working town and has good shopping. Our favourite restaurant is Tragamar at Calella. Apx 15 - 20 mins by car. Pals - famous restored medieval village with castle / cobbled streets and small shops / restaurants etc. Amust visit and great for the few not so nice days! Apx 10 mins. Beach is huge and sandy, great fun when it is windy in the waves. Peratallada - medieval town, with some great restaurants. Well worth a visit in the evening. There is a great restaurant just outside Peratallada at Mas Nou. Apx 15mins Girona - the areas main City, old historic centre with good shopping (all main shops, Zara Mango etc, so I am told!) and restaurants. Good for a non beach day, see La Bisbal, famous for ceramics on the way. Apx 35mins. Barcelona - the top destination for City breaks. A fantastic city , if you have time! Maybe go by train from Flaca for the day and do the open top bus tours for a taster. Apx 1 1/2 hrs by train or car. Activities - there is virtually endless list of activities available locally if you do not just want to laze the days away by the pool, including; golf (for details see useful links), snorkelling/diving, sailing/powerboating, kayaking, mountain biking, horse riding, go-karting, quad biking, hiking/walking, tennis, water park, zoo, skiing ( apx 2+ hrs ) etc etc etc. |
